Tavis Smiley teaches you how to listen in a way most people never experience. In four weeks, he dismantles the habits that keep us in shallow conversation and replaces them with ideas you can use immediately to create the kind of moments people carry with them for years. If you want to deepen your conversations and the connections with others, this is for you.

The Anatomy of a Great Conversation powerfully reinforces that the quality of our conversations ultimately shapes the quality of our outcomes. As a delegate at the United Nations, I had the opportunity to apply the course principles in real time, engaging with diverse global voices. I see this work as more than a communication skill—it is civic infrastructure. In a time marked by division and rapid change, our ability to facilitate meaningful dialogue is foundational to advancing justice, strengthening leadership, and driving systems transformation. This course is sharpening a set of practices I will continue to integrate across my dialogue, mediation, and governance work.

I really appreciated this course—it felt like both a reset and a refinement of what strong communication looks like in practice. So much of it served as an important reminder to slow down, be intentional, and truly listen—not just hear.
The focus on asking better questions and staying present landed in a meaningful way for me, especially in the context of facilitation and leadership.
If I had one wish, it would be for more opportunities to engage with fellow attendees (who all seemed pretty amazing too) and practice in real time—actually trying on the questions, listening, and reflecting together. That kind of shared experience would deepen the learning even further.
Overall, a fantastic course with insights I’ll carry forward into my work and conversations every day.

Anatomy of a Good Conversation gave me a framework I could use immediately. Within the first week, I applied what I'd learned about curiosity and engagement in a high-stakes professional setting and the response I received made it clear something had shifted. If you want to understand what makes a conversation truly work and start showing up differently in the ones that matter most, this course is worth your time.

The course was insightful, stimulating and thought provoking. There is still so much more that could be learned from the knowledge and experience Tavis Smiley has gained over the years. It has inspired me to put the insights I gained into action.
