One of the biggest things I learned during this healthcare UX project was the importance of slowing down and truly listening to users before trying to design solutions. My project, Advocate, focused on helping Black women feel more supported and confident during healthcare appointments after researching communication breakdowns and feelings of dismissal many experience in clinical settings.

This is a great deep dive into the specifics of healthcare UX and how to get your foot in the door to that space. Eric is a great instructor- very very generous with his time and knowledge. His expertise in the field makes this course a steal, considering how he makes himself so freely available by not only answering questions before and after class sessions, but offering private bookings to discuss outside of class time. His instruction method is easy going yet laden with industry specific nuggets of information. He pays great attention to prioritizing accessibility and empathy within the healthcare design process and shares anecdotal references from his work experience relating to design decisions and their impacts. The accelerated timeline is tight, but you finish with a real world product at the end that you can really use to leverage in your healthcare UX career journey. I would recommend this impactful course to anyone who is looking to take their nest step into the specific world of designing for healthcare.

I recently completed the “Transition into Healthcare UX” course, and it exceeded expectations. This 3-week online program (Saturday sessions + weekly assignments) goes beyond theory and prepares you for the realities of designing in healthcare through real-world scenarios, practical assignments, and industry expectations. One of the biggest highlights was the instructor, Eric. Eric is exceptionally knowledgeable, intuitive, and deeply invested in student success. His expertise across healthcare product development, medical software, diagnostics, EHR systems, research, design, and product management brings a level of depth that makes complex healthcare challenges feel approachable. His teaching style is thoughtful, practical, and incredibly thorough — truly 10/10. Personally, one of my biggest takeaways was discovering the world of Prior Authorization (PA) — something I knew very little about before the course. Through research, conversations with real healthcare providers, usability testing with actual users, and iterative design, it became my final healthcare UX project. That experience alone taught me an incredible amount about healthcare systems, regulation(HIPAA & GDRP), patient/provider pain points, and designing for real-world complexity. Important to note how relevant the content felt for today’s landscape — especially in the age of AI. The course helped me think more strategically about AI tools, integrations, healthcare workflows, and how to translate UX skills into market-ready, real-world healthcare products. Beyond the curriculum, I also appreciated the opportunity to connect with other students, learn from different perspectives, and be part of a collaborative learning environment. I left the program more knowledgeable, more confident, and better prepared for UX in healthcare. I highly recommend for anyone looking to transition into the space.

This is an excellent course for getting an in-depth introduction to both the specific challenges and frameworks of the healthcare industry, as well as the power and capabilities of using AI coding tools as you work to complete your capstone project. While the pace can sometimes be brusque, it forces you to streamline the design thinking process to iterate quickly for a great final result. I learned far more than I initially expected through a combination of in-depth content, and Eric's absolutely stellar level of engagement to make sure all questions, concerns, and developing ideas were addressed. Easily one of the best investments you can make if you're interested in design for the healthcare space.
