Good material, helped me think through concepts in a systematic way

This is a fantastic course that covers ideas and material not available in traditional courses on data visualization. It embeds making and designing charts and graphs within the larger framework of making an argument, as well as many of the steps (and ways to mislead and be misled) that are inherent in working with data.
Enrico is so good at putting all these concepts into a coherent and solid framework, which allows you to specifically evaluate charts and why they were made.
The course also allows us to make sense of all the different kinds of charts that people make, from the classic bad charts to the fantastical data art.

This course made me much more aware of the choices we make before even designing a visualization, especially the data transformations that silently shape how information is selected and interpreted. Despite the complexity of the topic and the absence of a “one size fits all” solution, I walked away with a practical framework that I can apply to any dataset to create more truthful visualizations. Above all, it reminded me that reality is often nuanced, and that staying humble is essential when working with data.

I recommend this course to anyone who wants a method for achieving true and accurate results in visualizations. The live sessions are interactive and I found that very helpful.

“Think Effectively with Data Visualization” provides a valuable framework for approaching data visualizations with a critical eye. Instead of quick formulas or rules, the course poses thoughtful questions that guide and help to communicate a message more effectively, prevent pitfalls, and expand one’s visual vocabulary. I enjoyed working with Enrico and other participants in small groups and learned a great deal from their insights.
